A business law firm gets recommended by ChatGPT when its own site states each practice area, state and attorney credential as plain text, and when the listings AI cross-checks say the same thing. Blesso, which publishes this guide, runs that work as a done-for-you service from $2k a month and measures how often AI names you from week one. Most business law firms without a marketing team need someone to do the pages and listings, not only a tool that counts mentions.
Last updated 7 November 2026. Written by the Blesso team. Provider facts come from each provider's own site, checked on that date.
Key takeaways
- 94% of B2B buyers used AI in their latest purchase (Forrester, 2026). Founders and in-house counsel now ask AI for a shortlist of firms before they call anyone.
- ChatGPT visitors converted at 5.5% in legal services, against 4.0% for all channels (First Page Sage, 2026). AI referrals were still only 0.36% of legal site sessions (Previsible, Aug to Oct 2026).
- Tools track how often AI names you. Services build the pages, fix the listings and report the result. Pick by who will do the work.
- Eight providers are compared below. Two have pages built for business law, and none can promise a citation.
- Judge any provider by appearance rate across many runs and by AI-referred inquiries, not by keyword rank.
Why does showing up in ChatGPT matter for business law firms now?
It matters because company buyers now start their search for counsel in AI, and the firm named in the answer gets the first look.
Forrester's 2026 buyer research found that 94% of business buyers used AI in their latest purchase. Forrester also notes that buyers check AI answers with people they trust. A general counsel who sees your firm in an answer will still open your site and look for proof.
The traffic converts well. First Page Sage reports that ChatGPT visitors to legal services sites converted at 5.5%, the second highest of 32 industries, against 4.0% for all channels. The data comes from about 170 of its own clients, and most invest in AI visibility, so read it as one vendor's sample.
The volume is still small. Previsible's legal index found AI referrals were 0.36% of legal site sessions from August to October 2026, and ChatGPT sent 65.7% of them. Its July 2026 study of 6.77 million AI sessions found legal visitors from AI spread across blog, about, contact and location pages, so they read the firm before they call. Google AI Overviews send no referrer, so this count misses them. Treat AI as a small, high-intent source of leads, not a replacement for referrals.
No public study splits out business law from consumer law. Our own research on how people look for lawyers points the same way as these studies: AI use for this task is rising, and the firm that is named gets the call. We do not quote our internal figures here.
What do customers of business law firms ask AI?
They ask for a named firm, with a company size, a state or a matter type already in the question.
Prompts like these are the ones to track:
- "Best employment law firm for a 200-person company in Texas"
- "How to choose a patent attorney for a SaaS startup"
- "Outside general counsel for a Series A company in New York"
- "Business law firm for buying a small manufacturer in Ohio"
- "Who drafts an operating agreement for a multi-member LLC in Florida"
The first two come from questions buyers ask. The last three are examples we wrote, not measured prompts. Replace them with the questions your own intake team hears.
Where do the answers come from? Law firm providers name the same sources. Kudu lists Avvo, Justia, FindLaw, Martindale and Super Lawyers as the directories AI tools read. Foundgrove adds Chambers to its business-law profile list. Best Lawyers belongs in the same group, because it is a third-party record an engine can check. The firm's own practice-area pages matter as much. Studies of B2B answers in other fields find that ChatGPT cites brand websites more than any other source, so these listings confirm your facts but do not replace your pages.
How do business law firms get recommended by ChatGPT?
They publish checkable facts on their own site, keep those facts identical everywhere else, and measure the result by appearance rate.
- Track buyer-question prompts across engines, over many runs. Answers change from run to run, so report how often you appear in repeated runs of the same prompts, not a rank. Track ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Perplexity at a minimum.
- Build one page per practice area per state. An employment page for Texas and one for California answer different questions. State the matters you handle, the company sizes you serve and the jurisdictions where you are licensed.
- Publish an attorney page for each lawyer. List bar admissions, practice focus, publications and speaking. Match them to the bar's own record.
- Add FAQ pages that answer the buyer's legal question. Write the answer in the first sentence, name the state, and say when the buyer needs advice.
- Follow state bar advertising rules. Do not guarantee results. Do not call anyone a specialist unless a certifying body approved by your state or accredited by the ABA has certified them, and name that body. ABA Model Rule 7.2(c) sets that test, and each state writes its own version.
- Fix listings and reviews on the cited sites. Make firm name, offices, attorneys and practice areas match on Avvo, Martindale, Justia, Super Lawyers, Chambers and LinkedIn.
- Measure citations and AI-referred leads. Count the prompts where you are named, the pages cited and the consultations that came from AI. Ask every new client how they found you. Do not report keyword ranks.

What is AEO/GEO, and how is it different from SEO?
AEO (answer engine optimization), GEO (generative engine optimization) and AI SEO are three names for the same work: getting your firm named and cited in AI answers.
Some SEO carries over: crawlable pages, clear structure, accurate schema and a fast site. Three things change. You are judged on being named in an answer, not on a position among ten links. Results vary by run, so you measure appearance rate. Third-party facts count more, because engines check your claims against listings and reviews. Search interest is growing: US Google volume in September 2026 was about 4,400 a month for generative engine optimization and 2,400 for answer engine optimization.
AI visibility tool or AI SEO agency: which do business law firms need?
A tool shows how often AI names you; an agency or service does the work that changes the answer.
A tool such as Peec AI runs your prompts on a schedule and reports mentions, citations and sources. It does not write your practice-area pages, fix your listings or ask clients for reviews. A service does those jobs and should include the tracking.
- Buy a tool if someone at the firm already ships pages every week and only needs measurement.
- Buy a service if your site is a brochure, no one owns it, or partners review every page for months. This is the case for most business law firms without a marketing team.
- Buy both only when the service does not include tracking you can inspect yourself.
Blesso is a service, not software. Its platform layer is included in the engagement and is not sold separately.
How to choose an AI SEO service for business law firms
Choose the provider that will do the page, listing and review work, show you raw answers, and report results you can check.
Use this checklist:
- Scope in numbers. Pages, prompts and engines per month, stated in the contract.
- Fixed prompt list. You approve the prompts, and the same prompts run every month.
- Raw answers and many runs. The report shows unedited AI answers and an appearance rate over repeated runs, not one screenshot.
- Off-site work. Listings, directories and reviews are in scope, not only pages on your site.
- Attorney review. A lawyer at your firm approves every page before it goes live.
- Bar-rule process. The provider can explain how it handles guarantee, specialist and testimonial rules in your states.
- Honest claims. No promise of a rank or a guaranteed citation. Nobody controls what an AI says.
- Clear exit. A short minimum term and written notice, and you own the pages and accounts.
Questions to ask every provider:
- Which business law firms have you worked with, and can I speak to one?
- What will you publish in month one, and who checks the legal facts?
- How do you check a bar admission or a ranking before it goes live?
- Which engines do you track, and how many runs per prompt?
- How do you count a lead from AI?
Best AI SEO services for business law firms, compared
Eight providers are listed below, and only two of them have a page built for business law.
This comparison uses published information only. We did not test any provider, and we have no data on how often any of them gets a firm named. Every fact comes from the provider's own site, checked on 7 November 2026 (Peec AI on 6 November). Prices change, so confirm them before you buy. Blesso publishes this guide and is listed under the same rules. We list it as a service with no law-firm client, because its published customers are in HR tech, talent and staffing.

The Blesso row reflects the AI visibility line of a three-line service: outbound, inbound and AI visibility. If you want only the AI work, ask what that line covers for a law firm, who at your firm approves each page, and how it is measured from week one. Our comparison of other providers covers more of the market.
What does AI SEO cost, and what happens in the first 90 days?
Published prices run from $95 a month for a tracking tool to $7,500 a month for a top service tier, and no source here shows what a business law firm will pay.
- Tool: $95 to $495 a month on Peec AI.
- Entry services: $1,250 a month for two cities at Probative Growth, $1,500 at The Legal Rainmaker, and from $2,500 at Foundgrove.
- Mid and upper services: $3,500 and $7,500 a month at The Legal Rainmaker, and $4,500 and from $7,500 at SEO Engico.
- Audit first: Kudu sells a $1,500 audit (regularly $2,500) and full service from $5,000 a month with a 12-month minimum.
- Blesso: from $2k a month, with a three-month minimum.
Read what each price includes. A tool price buys tracking only. A service price should buy pages, listings and a monthly report. For more on the drivers of cost, see our guide to monthly costs.
The plan below is a suggested sequence, not a measured result. Nobody can promise when an AI will start naming you.
- Days 1 to 14: baseline. Agree 30 to 50 buyer prompts. Run each several times on each engine. Record which firms are named instead of yours.
- Days 15 to 45: facts and pages. Confirm every bar admission and ranking. Publish practice-area-by-state pages, attorney pages and FAQ pages, each approved by a lawyer.
- Days 46 to 75: listings and reviews. Make firm facts identical on Avvo, Martindale, Justia, Super Lawyers, Chambers and LinkedIn. Ask clients for reviews where your bar rules allow it.
- Days 76 to 90: re-test and decide. Run the same prompts again. Compare appearance rate with the baseline, list the pages cited, and count AI-referred consultations. Then decide what to do next.
FAQ
What is the best AI SEO service for business law firms?
No public study ranks these providers, so there is no single best. Pick on fit: a legal specialist if you want bar-rule knowledge, a business-law page if your clients are companies, or a done-for-you service if you want tracking, pages and listings in one retainer. Ask each for a business-law reference you can call.
How can business law firms show up in AI search answers?
Publish one page per practice area and state, add attorney pages that list bar admissions, and answer buyer questions in plain text. Make firm facts match on Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell and similar sites. Then run the same prompts monthly across several engines and track how often your firm is named, not its rank.
What is the best AI visibility tool for business law firms?
Peec AI publishes plans from $95 to $495 a month and tracks several AI engines. A tool shows how often AI names your firm. It does not write practice-area pages, fix listings or ask clients for reviews. Buy one only if someone on your team will ship that work every week.
Who is the best AEO or GEO agency for business law firms?
Foundgrove, Onely and The Legal Rainmaker each describe this work for law firms, and Foundgrove and Onely address business law directly. Rankings.io works only in legal but says personal injury is its deepest specialty. Check each page in the table, then ask for a business-law reference.
Can any provider guarantee a ChatGPT recommendation?
No. Nobody controls what an AI says, and answers change from run to run. Lawyer advertising rules also warn against statements that create unjustified expectations. SEO Engico and Kudu both say on their sites that they do not promise a mention. Treat any guaranteed citation as a warning.
Do AEO and GEO replace regular SEO for a law firm?
No. Crawlable pages, clear structure and accurate schema serve both. Google still sends visitors, and Previsible found AI referrals were 0.36% of legal sessions from August to October 2026. Treat AEO and GEO as added work on a sound site, measured by how often AI names you.
